Abuelos visit Casa Lennon and Casa Flippin
Dave’s parents, aka, “the abuelos“, better known to Sophia as “‘buela” and “grandpa,” made a late summer visit to Casa Lennon. As you can see from the pictures and videos linked below, the kids really enjoy their time with their abuelos. We know we are very fortunate that our children know their abuelos. For that, and their frequent visits
, we are grateful.
The original weekend plan was for Michele to go to Chicago with her friend Layna. Unfortunately, that fell through at the last minute. Though Michele didn’t get to go to Chicago (yet,) she got some alone time. Even if it was just to go to Target.
The good news was that we all got to spend the weekend together. On Friday night, the abuelos treated us to an early birthday dinner for Dave since they expect to be in Spain for much of September. On Saturday night, the abuelos watched the kids after they went to sleep and Michele and Dave went to Mez for churros. Sadly, they were out. (They’re actually quite tasty, we recommend them.) The abuelos got to spend time with their nietos at the park, playground, mall, and pool. We know the kids had a great time. We suspect the abuelos did, too.
As some of you may know, Dave is a budding, amateur genealogist. He spent some time interviewing grandpa, abuela, and Cousin Michelle about the family history. Next steps are to actually document all of it and try to follow it up.
On Sunday, we had a special treat. We had breakfast with Casa Lennon’s cousins, Casa Flippin. We met Cousins Michelle, Travis, and their growing and adorable twin infants, Byron and Nora at Elmo’s in Carrboro. Given that Cousin Michelle was going to be submitting her dissertation the next day, we were that much more grateful that we could make it happen. It was great to see the youngest Flippins. They are sooo adorable.
